Do I have to use so called EXOTIC flowers for my centerpieces?

I am thinking of incorporating common ,everyday flowers in my centerpices. I want the grand centerpieces but i am not willing to spend alot of money on expensive roses, lilies or anything like that. If i will it will just be to compliment the arrangement. Their is alos a particular green and white leaffy kinda plant always in a pot that i want to use . How could i use a plant that is always in a pot? weding colours are caramel, a peachy caramel, gold with ivory but i also want to incorporate green througjh use of plabnts and stuff.

You could use the plant, right in a nice pot and use a ribbon about the edge that matches your colors. Or get something that matches to stick out of the pot. I have seen glittery stick things at the craft store in the 'fake' plant section and at florists but I am not sure what they are called.

I think this would be lovely and not the boring standards we see a lot!
Reply:Get plaster pedastals and put pots of ferns on top of them; you'd need to disguise the plastic pots they come in but if they're green, you might not even have to do that. You could give the pedalstals a coat of spray paint to make them look finished. This is simple, easy, inexpensive, and elegant.
Reply:You can always use the potted plant as your centerpiece, just make sure it is trimmed and put in a nice looking pot (which you can always paint) and tie a nice looking ribbon/bow around it.

You absolutely do not have to use exotic flowers for your centerpieces, though if you go through a florist, the rose is actually one of the cheaper flowers. In reality, you don't need to use flowers at all in your centerpieces. Just get creative.
Reply:You don't HAVE to do anything

It's your wedding, do what you want
Reply:you can do whatever you want, you don't have to use flowers, some people buy candles and other items for centerpieces and then give them away to the person at each table who has the bday closest to your wedding day
Reply:It depends on your wedding date. If you want to use "everyday flowers" (we call them "wild flowers" in the trade), please remember that they are seasonal.

If your wedding date is within spring and summer, you have a lot of choices. But if the date falls into fall or winter, you may have to use commodity flowers such as roses, lilies, carnations, the kind of flowers that are grown in greenhouses and therefore always available.

As to plant, there is no problem incorporating plant pot in the centerpiece.
Reply:As the bride, YOU are the exotic flower. Tell your florist what your budget is and ask for suggestions. Have the florist make arrangements from assorted greenery with just a few blossoms scattered throughout. Daisys and dianthus can be a caramel/peachy color and are always beautiful in photographs. Ribbons can be added for additional color. As long as things are fresh, your centerpieces will be gorgeous!
Reply:depending what size pot those plants are usually in, you can buy small galvanized metal buckets with handles for fairly cheap at Lowe's or Home Depot. then you don't even need to replant the plants, just stick the entire container into the galvanized bucket. decorate the bucket with ribbon in your wedding colors and there ya go!
Reply:You don't have to use exotic flowers...I understand where you are coming from. I wanted the tall full centerpieces as well, but I certainly didn't want to pay a ton for them. What you can do to reduce the cost is ask the florist to use a lot of greenary and ask them to use seasonal flowers in your colors. I did that and asked her to incoporate the gerbera daisies, since they are a very affordable flower and that was what my bridesmaids were carrying.

The gerbera's come in a beautiful peach color...so do tulips, which is an affordable flower as well. Good luck...and don't worry so much about the centerpieces. It was something I was very particular about, but on the day of I barely noticed there were centerpieces on the tables.

Good luck :)
