Could you define the universe?

so often in this forum i see questions from creationists asking atheists, "if there is no god, then how did the universe form?" so i was just thinking about this questions. how did the universe form? what exactly are we talking about when we say the universe, and what exactly do we mean by "form"? the universe is ever-changing, and thus the definition of it changes as well, does it not? consider the ingredients for a cake, eggs flower, sugar, vanilla, etc. do we have a cake just because we have the ingredients for a cake? furthermore, is a cake still a cake after it's been eaten and digested? no, what defines a cake is referring to a particular arrangement of the ingredients of that cake. likewise, isn't what defines the universe but a momentary definition. the universe is not the same today as it was yesterday, or what it will be tomorrow. so what is the answer creationists are looking for when they ask about the temporary definition of the universe?

Could you define the universe?
Breathtakingly beautiful.
Reply:The universe consists of everything that exists. It's a pretty simple concept.

If God "created" the universe, it couldn't have been the real universe but merely a sub-universe. The real one was the one where he lived when creating the sub-universe. He either lived in one, or he WAS the universe.

Of course, he's not real.
Reply:Most people would say this universe is everything that was a product of the big bang, although if there are other universes which are the products of other big bangs then it might be worthwhile distinguishing between these individual universes and the everything-that-exists universe sometimes referred to as the 'Universe'.
Reply:Large. Although it isn't really. Compared to an ant the universe is tuffing massive but there could be something which is huge compared to the universe.

I'm going for complicated.
Reply:The universe is everything we know and don't know. And considering the extent of that which we don't know, I think its a logical fallacy to assume that we CAN define it.
Reply:God created the Universe, end of the topic. It is too complex to reach the Human Mind. Therefore it must have been God who made of the design in the Universe.
Reply:The universe is life.
Reply:it's the big dark thing in the sky that has little specks of shiny dirt in it.
Reply:BIG
Reply:You must be hungry bro... have some cake and chill...
