What Is the Most Caring Thing Your Cat Ever Did For You?

When I had eye surgery, my cat sat on the floor by my bed at home, next to the flower arrangements, so I would see her at all times and know she was there for me.

How about you?

What Is the Most Caring Thing Your Cat Ever Did For You?
My Dixie was just a baby when I saw this horrible spider in the bedroom floor. I was terrified and at home alone with my cats so I started calling "kitty, kitty" hoping my big mouser girl Shasta would come save me. She never came but baby Dixie came running, saw the spider, and played with it to death. She saved me! She died last week and I'm smiling and crying at the same time. Thanks for letting me relive that memory of her. I loved her so much. Your kitty sounds like a darling. Love her much- you can't guarantee tomorrow. ?
Reply:I lived with my grandparents for a while when I was in college, to help them out around the house and whatnot. After my grandpa passed away Molly (my cat) began spending more time with my Nana. I moved away, but left Molly with my Nana and her other little dog, for more company, but shortly after that the dog died of heart failure (she was an old lady as well).

Then it was just Molly and my Nana, and for the 2 remaining years of Molly's life she was never far from my grandmother's side. She would wait at the door when Nana went out, and never spent a moment away from her when she was home. Having an animal to take care of after Grandad and the dog passed was the best therapy for my Nana, it gave her support and comfort and company during her lonely times.
Reply:my cat won't leave me alone when I'm sad...in the past I had a problem with self injury and when ever I went into another room he would follow me like he knew what I was about to do and I just couldn't do it in front of him...when I tried to keep him out of the room by shutting the door he seemed to know whether I was just changing my clothes or if I was going to hurt myself-even with the door shut!...he never made a sound when I was just changing my clothes but once when I started to pick up a knife I heard him screaming outside my door and the next thing you know he's getting my boyfriend's attention to sort of "let him know" what was happing behind the door

taking care of and loving him gave me a purpose in life when I thought I was better off dead...he's always been there for me that cat of mine...even now when I'm no longer depressed he still makes me feel loved and needed every chance he gets

:)
Reply:Sitting there watch the Jay Leno show, and in walks Bandit through the pet door with a big fat dove in his mouth. The bird wasn;t hurt, so I took it outside and let it rest a bit before it flew away. Bandit was pi$$ed off!! He looked at me like, " This is the thanks I get for climbing that frigging tree and getting you a roosting bird? Up yours, lady!!" and he stalked off.
Reply:Warns me that there are 'predators' outside. We live near a river, and get skunks, raccoons, etc. coming up to the house looking for food. When there is one outside 2 of my cats sit at the window and 'huff up' and their fur stands up, warning me (I like to think) not to go outside because something scary is out there.

Then there is my elderly neighbor who had a dog for many years. The dog was getting too old to get around and the end was near. My neighbor, who is 82, always said "when the dog goes, so am I". Well, he had to put the dog down, but right before that a stray cat 'adopted' him. He took in the cat (his 1st cat at 82!) and fell in love with her. He put the dog down, but he had the cat to care for and keep him company, and he made it though the dog passing. The cat "magically" appeared at a time when she was really needed. And is still there giving him something to care about.
Reply:My cat Felix died in December from anemia--I adopted him from the Humane Society when he was 6 months old, he had been abused. It took a long time for him to get used to me but when he finally did--he was so sweet. I would wake up in the morning and he would be licking my face and neck.

He was 7 years old when he died and I was devastated and I still haven't gotten over it. I know that God is watching over him now---I hope to see him again sometime.
Reply:My cat will come and cuddle me whenever I'm sad or sick. :-)

They can always tell...
Reply:we forgot he was in house and he was locked upstairs and he sha t in bath instead of carpet.lol no seriously...i went away for a few days and my mum said he sat on garage roof crying all the time wouldnt come in and when i got home he screamed meowed and threw himself into my arms.my brother had to climb on roof every day to feed him but he wouldnt eat till i got back my mum said she had been driven to dispair with him.
Reply:My cat used to leave me "gifts" of dead squirrels, birds and snakes on the bed and other places where I'd be sure to find them. I wasn't to thrilled with them but it's not like a cat can go out and buy a Halmark card or something!
Reply:I'm disabled and have a lot of operations. Everytime I come home from the hospital my cat sits one the bed, or rather sleeps on the bed with me while I am recooperating. She just stays with me and keeps me company. Every so often she will stick her nose up to my mouth to make sure that I am breathing if I haven't moved for a while. It's cute, but the whiskers do wake me up. But how can you get upset with a cat who cares so much. Now, that's what a call a caring cat. My other cat however has no knowlege of what is going on, she is a true cat. Ignores everything but her food bowl.
Reply:My baby will lay in my arms like a baby. She was sick a little while ago and couldn't bare to look at her because I could tell she was soooo ill. Eventually we took her to the vet and she got back to normal, she would hiss at my husband and run to me. If I lay down or sit down she wants to lay on me and she wants to lay in my arms like a baby! One time for like a week straight she was crying at me for no reason. It was kind of annoying but all she wanted me to do was lay in bed with her and hug her all day long. If I would get up from bed she would follow me and cry until I'd lay down with her again. It was kind of annoying but it was the sweetest thing ever. And she loves to put her paw on my face whenever she is near my face. She also cries when I come home from work so I can pick her up and kiss her. She also loves to leave dead lizzards next to my bed for me. My husband plays with me and if I start saying "ow" or "stop" my cat will come and start meowing at my husband, I guess she's trying to say "leave mommy alone!" Because when he stops she'll come and rub her face on my face. She's a handful lol. She does to many things, more than what I've written here!
Reply:well, i passed out in the bathroom, and the cat just sat there and stared at me. no "lassie" type for me, no sir! honestly, i'm sure that there are tons of nice cats out there, but i've never owned one. good for you, that you found one.
Reply:When I got a bad cut that needed stiches my cat did something very caring. After the stiches, it still hurt on my left arm so I lied down, and my little orange kitten rested on top of the hurt spot, numbing the pain.
Reply:I don't like to be alone, my little black baby follows me wherever I go, including to the bathroom. He's always right at the bottom of my feet when I'm walking, sometimes I trip over him. If I'm sitting then he's not all that far away from me, sitting somewhere.
