Pick your own flowers. Why can't we be honest like the continentals?

Seen on the Continent are small pots of flowers, for sale on a pick-your-own basis. The plots are unattended and the prices are displayed, together with a cash box for the payment to be left.Presumably the arrangement must work.

This would not be possible in Britain, as the flowers, any money and quite probably the cash box itself would soon disappear. Why are we so different?

because we live in world where most people look out for number 1, gone are the days where people used to help eachother and take pride in their country,. money is the answer, we like to keep up with the Jones' , what others have we want, if I cant afford it Ill get credit, this is why we live within a society that sustains itself through debt. there are very few honest people left in this country, we are all out for what we can get and will get it without thinking of the consequences to our society as a whole. we al break thelaw everyday, even if its just speading at 35mph in a 30mph zone, we all do it, we think of ourselves before others cause through society we have been brought up to live within our own bubble. empathy is lost on more than a few people, thus we see nothing wrong with it, itis the sad fact of capitalism in the western world. "everyman 4 himself"
Reply:And where exactly have you seen this?
Reply:Sadly, my friend, you're right.

Someone told me only recently that they were wanting to get rid of a household item, so placed it by the gate with a sign readin "FREE - Please help yourself" (the item was an armchair in quite good nick, but she just didn't have the transport etc to dispose of it herself. Anyway, it remained untouched for a few days, so she replaced the sign with one that said "£25 - buyer must have transport" She then went to town %26amp; when she came back it was gone.

Typical, I thought. Though by %26amp; large, Brits are pretty good people.
Reply:there's a house nearby and they have plants and books out the front for sale for charity and nobody steals the money or the stuff.

its maybe more prevalent in some areas of the nation??
Reply:I live in Scotland and loads of people sell things with honesty boxes. Don't be so hard on the Brits we are not so bad.
